China's State Taxation Administration announced on Monday that online cross-border tax service for non-resident enterprises has been launched nationwide, through which overseas enterprises can directly pay tax online.
Non-resident enterprises can register using an E-mail address and then upload certificates. After verification, they can obtain the Identification Code of Non-resident Enterprise, which is available nationwide. The online cross-border tax service platform supports both Chinese and English. Meanwhile, the enterprises don't need to fill forms and they can calculate tax due with a smart tax calculator.
China has been optimizing the international business environment for taxation and trying to remove barriers for cross-border tax payment.
Lam Ho Wang, a staff member from Cinderford Investments Limited, a U.K. enterprise, finished tax-related business of equity transfer and paid more than 500,000 yuan of corporate income tax through Guangdong Electronic Taxation Bureau.
“I planned to fly to China to deal with tax-related issues, but I can now handle them through China’s online tax payment service. The whole process is smooth and convenient, and has saved me a lot of time,” Wang said.
Non-resident enterprise means an enterprise that is established and actually managed in a jurisdiction other than China, either having an office or premises established in China, or having income derived from China although it does not have an office or premises in China.
