Katie: Oh, what if I don’t have a Mainland bank card but only a Hong Kong credit card. Can I still pay taxes without any difficulties?

Suisui: Yes. On March 31, 2021, Guangzhou Branch, the People’s Bank of China and Guangdong Provincial Tax Bureau have jointly issued the Operation Procedures for Cross-border RMB Electronic Tax Payment into Treasury with UnionPay (Trial Scheme), which has fully considered the needs of overseas non-resident taxpayers.

Now non-resident taxpayers holding overseas UnionPay credit cards can easily pay taxes online around the world.

Katie: Good news! Can you show me how to do it?

Suisui: There are two methods of paying taxes.

1. Online payment with UnionPay

2. Mobile payment with UnionPay Mobile QuickPass

Katie: Sounds convenient. How to make online payment with UnionPay exactly?

Suisui: After filing tax declaration return through E-tax bureau or V-tax Remote Self-service Platform, enter the " Tax Settlement （清缴税费）"  page. Click "Pay immediately（立刻缴税）" and choose" online payment with UnionPay（银联卡在线支付）". Check and confirm tax amount and other information, then you can pay your taxes by entering UnionPay account number and password.

It should be noted that the amount of tax payment cannot exceed the limit of your credit card .

Katie: Seems similar to online shopping. What about online payment with Mobile QuickPass?

Suisui: First，make sure you have the app "UnionPay Mobile QuickPass" preinstalled. After filing tax declaration return through V-tax Remote Self-service Platform, enter the "Tax Settlement（清缴税款）" page. Click "Pay immediately（立即缴税）" and choose " Payment with Mobile QuickPass（云闪付扫码支付）". V-tax Platform will send a QR code to taxpayers. Scan the QR code, check and confirm the information, and you can pay your taxes very conveniently.

Katie: It is indeed as easy as online shopping. Can I print out Tax payment certificate after my payment?

Suisui: Yes, after your payment, you can print out the tax payment certificate on E-tax Bureau or V-tax Remote Self-service Platform.
